Chairbiz are giving Brisbane artists the opportunity to participate in their 'Artists at Work' live painting session at Brisbane Indesign 2012. Ten artists will be selected to creatively interpret the theme COMMON THREAD in an artwork. One of Australia's most exciting young artists, Nic Plowman, will be judging the artworks on the day and the winner will be awarded $1,500 prize money. The People's Choice winner will receive $500 prize money. A live auction will be held at the end of the day, giving the design community a chance to own a piece of art by an emerging artist. Artisan designer Scott St apartment
Artisan staff have busy organising the interior decoration of a multi-million dollar Scott St apartment with work from Queensland designers. The apartment will launch in early April with an exclusive cocktail party by Lindsay Bennett Marketing and will available for private viewing.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor shortlisted for Adelaide Fringe Award!
Artisan's touring exhibition Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor has been shortlisted for the Adelaide Fringe Award in the catagorey of BankSA Best Visual Art and Design.
The exhibition is currently on display at JamFactory in Adelaide until the 5th of April 2012.
Winners will be announced this Sunday the 18th of March. You can follow the Adelaide Fringe twitter feed for live announcements of winners here. Alternatively the full list of winners will be available on the Adelaide Fringe website on Monday the 19th of March.

Bespunk by Derlot
Bespunk by Derlot offers an alternative recycling concept which transforms trash to flash and gives new life to old items. Lethbridge 10 000 Small Scale Art Award
Now in its third year, this exciting art competition is again open to national and international artists for 2D artworks up to 60cm in any direction. The judging based on three equally evaluated criteria of creativity, originality and skill. $10 000 will be awarded to the winner.

2012 Queensland Premier's Design Awards
The 2012 Queensland Premier's Design Awards are open for entries. Australia's richest design prize, the Awards recognise the importance of design to business, lifestyle and innovation through the presentation of:•A $40 000 Smart State Design Fellow to an individual or team who has significantly contributed to developing a design culture within Queensland. Entrants may be from any industry or sector.
•A $10 000 Emerging Design Leader Award to an emerging Queensland designer who embodies excellence in their expertise, talent, skill and commitment to design.

QUT Window Project
The Window Project is a partnership conceived by the QUT School of Design Interior Design discipline and artisan, to open upprovide opportunities for design students to work collaboratively on small scale retail and exhibition design projects. QUT Design students teamed up with artisan staff over a six week period to develop a concept aligned to artisan’s exhibition and retail program, with supervisory assistance provided by QUT lecturers. . The program fosters real world engagement and networking, and allows students to showcase their talents in the public realm as an introduction to professional practice.
The current Window Project showcases the award winning Wambamboo range by designer Kent Gration. Wambamboo encompasses stylish and functional bamboo furniture and everyday objects.The range highlights bamboo's versatility as a natural high-end material using bamboo poles, cross-laminated boards and veneers, whilst promoting the environmental benefits of this rapidly renewable resource.

Animated Steel: Heavier Metal by Christopher Trotter
Animated Steel: Heavier Metal features the work of Queensland artist Christopher Trotter. Inspired by nature, and fast cars and machinery, Trotter, recycles industrial scrap metal into animals, fossils, zany vehicles or alien creatures. He carefully selects components, and his intimate understanding of structure and movement, both natural and mechanical, imbues his works with life and vigour. This selection of sculptures are from the artists collection. The exhibition is on display at Gallery artisan until the 31st of March 2012.
